Joe Calzone received his first drum at the age of 1 and has not stopped exploring the world of percussion since.   Notable sensa’s include the legendary Carmine Appice and Bernard “Pretty” Purdie.  Joe also studied the full range of percussive arts in Manhattan with Norman Grossman at the infamous Frank Ippolito’s Professional Percussion Center.  His musical background and style bring an exciting mix to all styles of music.  He approaches the drums with a passion and enthusiasm that motivates all band members to perform at a higher level with the goal of creating a memorable performance for the audience.  

 

Joe is the founder and president of the world-renowned Calzone and Anvil Case Companies, manufacturers of heavy duty shipping cases for most any application.  He brings the same dedication and attention to detail to Calzone’s Mad Dog Redux as he has done for Calzone and Anvil for over 45 years.

Milo Fuscaldo

Vocalist

Milo started singing and performing in his first band “The King James Bible Band”.  This band was based in the town of Greenwich, CT.  The band also known by “KJB” or “The Bible” performed contemporary music of the 60’s, Motown and R&B.   During their 4 years they opened for Ben E. King, The Blues Magoo’s and Rhinoceros. 

In 1969 Milo played with another local band “LIFE”.  Two members of LIFE continued on in the music industry to become tops in their fields and both have received multiple Grammy and other industry accolades, Bob Clearmountain of Mixthis.com and Jeff Bova of Bovaland.com. 

1970 he joined the “Blue Feeling Band” singing a variety of songs 4-5 nights a week at the Deuces Wild in Norwalk every Friday/Saturday night and every Thursday/Sunday nights at the Big Apple in Milford, CT.  

In 1991 the “The King James Bible Band” was reunited for nearly 9 years performing all over Southern CT and Westchester, NY.

From 2005 - 2008, Milo performed with the Westchester, NY based band “RoadTrip” performing at many different venues in Westchester County/ NYC and Southern, CT.

2008 - Present  Milo was one several singers with the Stamford based “Sharkey and the Unknowns Band” and after Sharkey Laureno passed the band continued as “Sharkey’s Unknown Band” which continues to perform several times a year.  This band had been together for almost 25 years prior to Milo joining.  They opened for the Beach Boys a few years back at Stamford’s “Live@5. 

Over the years Milo sang as a guest singer with many different bands like “Billy and the Showmen” and the Jam Bands with hosts: Roxy Perry, Gil Parris, Ed Train and Wendy May.

2013 -2019 Milo performed with Tim Currie’s Motown Band with 5 singers and 9 musicians for 6 ½ years and Tim Currie’s Tumblin’ Dice Band (music of the 60’s) for 1 ½ years. Between both bands they performed at the Ridgefield Playhouse, the Norwalk Oyster Festival, Infinity Music Hall in Hartford, the Norwalk Green and countless other venues in CT.

Carole Sylvan

Vocalist

Carole is a classical trained pop/jazz singer, vocal arranger songwriter, and educator. She is a teaching artist and artist in residence for Young Audiences New York. She teaches Broadway, Pop, Jazz singing as well as Glee Club and Musical Theater. She began singing in church and at the home of Count Basie. 

 

At age 16, she opened up for James Brown at Yankee Stadium. She began her career as a classical singer attending Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and Julliard School of Music. Ms. Sylvan’s classical performances include the role of Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Adele in Der Fledermaus and Bess in Porgy and Bess at Brooklyn College Opera. During, Carole’s junior year in college she went on the road with a Show band for 44 weeks. Carole started writing songs with the Fatback band and performed lead vocals on the bands first hit song Money which became their first gold record.  She also won the Ed Sullivan award for outstanding artists.  

Joy Dee

Vocalist

Joyce Dee is not a stranger to entertainment. The classically trained Kansas City native has worked as a side vocal-musician with notable recording artists including Jonathan Butler, Regina Belle, Brian McKnight, PM Dawn and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, and has had original material (Don't TakeYour Love From Me) recorded by the late jazz saxophone great Grover Washington, Jr. on his Time Out of Mind LP. Joyce appeared in the feature film Donnie Brasco starring Al Pacino and Johnny Depp.

Joyce was the music director for The American Friends of the Phelephepa Train Seventh Annual Gala Dinner honoring The Late and Most Honorable Reverend Desmond M. Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus.

As the event music director, Joyce directed the esteemed Christian Cultural Center (CCC) choir of Brooklyn, NY. Cadence Magazine had this to say about Joyce "This woman's individualism and power deserves to be heard."

Tony Ferrigno

Tony Ferrigno leads an established classic rock / blues power trio. His experience and professionalism have landed him at countless clubs, theatres and festivals. He has also performed with numerous major label acts. He collaborates with only the finest musicians. Currently his band is hailed as one of the finest guitar based trios in the tri-state area.

Tony Ferrigno is an avid  vintage guitar and amp collector. Over the years he has compiled an impresive collection of vintage guitars and amplifiers. His collection is always put to good use whether touring or recording in the studio.

The search for a perfect environment  led Tony to construct Connecticut Sound Systems a professional analog studio featuring modern and vintage types of recording equipment. Ferrigno has been heavily influenced by musicians from the golden age of rock and blues.

JD Herzog began his musical adventure in grammar school playing clarinet, then at 12 years old switched to tenor/alto sax . He studied sax with the late Joe Sebastian from age 12 to 18. He lived in India for a while and played with the  New Delhi Symphony Orchestra, and in Germany, playing in local bands around the Munich area and at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Back in Connecticut in 1980 he once again studied sax with Joe Sebastian for two years, and the Jazz Theory with the late Drew Salperto. 

While attending the University of Bridgeport, JD studied saxophone with Tim Reis (The Rolling Stones) .

He has recorded with The PLR Breakfast Band, and DW Armstrong and The Rent Party, and played in many bands in Southern Ct.  Some are "  Blue Eyed Soul",  "The Elm City Blues Project", "On The Serious Side", "Measured Soul", "The Cobalt Rhythm Kings", "Bill Bakers 5 Satins", and others too numerous to mention.

Gerard Diacri

A native of Stamford, CT, Gerard is a versatile and accomplished percussionist who has worked for over 40 years with notable R&B, jazz fusion and contemporary Latin groups in the U.S., Europe, and worked on jazz cruises. His studio session work includes years of recordings and soundscapes for music, films, and music therapy. Gerard has played opening acts for Ceelo Green, KC and The Sunshine Band, Shaggy, Dave Valentin, Yellowjackets, Tito Puente, Jose Feliciano, Billy Cobham, Pancho Sanchez, Al DiMeola, Bella Fleck, Steve Morris (Dixie Dregs), and the Neville Brothers and many more. He has appeared at the Palladium in NYC as well as Toads Place in New Haven CT, The Sting, the Oakdale Theatre in Connecticut and the "Alive At Five"(Stamford, CT, live music series). Gerard has produced & played on his Jazz Fusion CD "Cool Bop Phonics" and made television and radio appearances with the NYC Allstars. 

 

Gerard currently performs with Zully Ramos and the OG's, Louis Zayas and the Blaze, Joe Calzone’s Mad Dog Redux and the FreeRide bands.
